Plain jane

The wild pomp and show of the Saturday night,
The crowd going frenzy on the beats of the music and the disco light,
Drinks on the house, the club gone tipsy
There at the corner! Did anyone bother to see?
The eyes that hide a million feelings,
The lips that long to utter the unspoken words,
Still strong inspite of the hurts and healings,
That Plain Jane is yet to fly like those free free birds.

She once cared, she once loved,
She once trusted but was badly bluffed.
She still cares, her heart's still loving
But now she watches out before what she's sowing.
Did anyone see her smile, ohh yes she does smile
But now the smile aint the same how it used to last an extra mile.
How does it feel to dance happily and freely in the rain,
"I hate the rain", that's the cover used by the plain jane.

Amidst the crowd, she too longs to be recognised
By a happy go lucky soul, probably her charmer
How she wishes they could waltz around leaving everybody in gape
His face is still unseen, his presence still a question
But she somewhat in her mind has that shape
She aint like the other girls, happy and bubbly
Careless about their clothes, parents' permission or even their mascaras
She's someone who wants to be taken care of by a hand of destiny, lady luck adorning one of the lucky happy tiaras.

Sooner or later this too shall pass,
Sooner or later all this would seem crass
Someday or the other fate will smile on her
Someday or the other she wont will have to suffer
But how will the time compensate for what all she has lost
No one even knows what all did it cost
Someday soon there wont be anymore pain
Let's see where life takes my innocent Plain Jane...
